Cobra was first introduced during the launch of theG.I. Joe: A Real American Herotoy line in mid-1982. The toy line was accompanied by aMarvel Comicsseries, written byLarry Hama, and an animated television series bySunbowandMarvel Productions. However, the origin and portrayal of Cobra has differed in each of them.
